Basket For Bucks

This weekend I was blessed to be part of basket for bucks, a fundraising event, for St. Ann's CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) Basketball league.
Our organization is made up of about 156 children, put in teams according to there grade level. They then compete with teams throughout there county for the title of Westcheaster's Best. St. Ann's teaches kids the fundamentals of basketball and the sportsmanship. The best part of this organization that each coach and staff member are volunteers.

Basket for bucks is an event done every year to help support and improve the program. A proceed of what is made is donated to a good cause, this year was given to the Maria Farerl Children's Hospital . Its a day where each child in our program is sponsored from people such as parents, family member, friends, etc. for each shot made in the time frame given. For example children from grades second through fifth are given two minutes to shot and every shot they make is two dollars donated to the program. While teams are shooting they have music playing, international food being sold and great things being raffled such as LCD T.V., Xbox 360, gas gift certificates and etc.

Not only is this day full and excitement for the children for the programs but brings our family's together to interact and see the extraordinary job that is being accomplished by our program. This being my sixth year organizing it, makes me feel not only accomplished but heart warming knowing these kids have a great place like this.
